Cedric Jackson - Professional Basketball player and MVP for the NBL

Cedric Jackson is a basketball player who originally started of in America at NCAA college basketball, which led him to his NBA career and then on to his career with the NZ breakers, where he has had plenty of success.

Cedric’s basketball career first took of when he started at Cleveland State University where he led the Vikings from last to first in the horizon league, he also won the award for best defensive player in the Horizon league. This led Cedric to his NBA career where he was to meet big stars again like Tyson Lawson and Kevin Durant who he’d played juniors with. However his NBA career was short and only consisted of short contracts. Coaches kept their eye out for him and Cedric kept pushing. At this time Cedric said, “It’s all about timing for me, and hopefully I’ll get with the right situation soon.” After this Cedric signed a big contract with the Sojourn Italian team, but left in disgust because of the fans disappointment. He was then recommended to the NZ Breakers by Tall blacks coach Nenad Vucinic to join. His career at the Breakers was mind blowing as he has led the Breakers to two consecutive victories, he has competed in the NBL all stars team, Cedric was the first Breaker to get a triple-double (28 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists) and Cedric Jackson was named the MVP of the NBL for the 2012-2013 season.

I asked Cedric: In your own words, what is the key to success? Cedric replied to my question saying, “Hard work every day and NO shortcuts.” To me from Cedric’s career he has followed these rules all his life and has been rewarded with amazing success.

Although Cedric isn't a kiwi he is an inspiration to many New Zealanders as he is a brilliant basketball player on the court and a cool guy of the court. You often see many young kiwis wearing Cedric's Breakers singlet.

Because of this Cedric is considered an honorary kiwi to many people. Cedric left the breakers last season to pursue his basketball career. This entry was taken out after Cedric had little connections with New Zealand. The page has recently been added for basketball inspiration.
